A missed fish is almost never “cast more.” The game checks pool, month, weather, clock, and rod. Energy is 10 per cast. Empty month or weather cells mean any. The Bamboo Fishing Rod is the collection rod: it can hook every listed species. Fiberglass and Carbon Fiber make the fight kinder; they do not open a secret biome.
Lightman mails the Old Fishing Rod. Kelp at Doloc Dock skips the minigame. Four-eyed Fish at Eastern Pond is 55g. Cod at the dock in rain is 170. Open the fishing planner before you recast in the same pool all afternoon.

How a cast works
Bite chance starts at 0.1 and grows by 0.15. Some pools attach 20% garbage. Polluted water is 100% junk on purpose.
- Charge for distance. Lift on bite. Hold green, release red, tap gold.
- Perfect-cast window is 0.1 — do not retrain your hands for it.
- Blank month / weather / time = any. A fish that lists ordinary rain will not appear just because the sky is wet.
Planner, pools, and sibling pages
Open the fishing planner before you recast in the same pool all afternoon. Set month, weather icon, rod, and pool. Fish catalog keeps garbage rows so you do not think the save is broken. Fish tier list splits Kelp S for time from Salmon S-pain. Calendar is the festival gate. Events covers Salmon Festival on month 1 days 25–27. Energy is still 10 per cast against a 320 starting bar. Faint is still 60 percent.
Twenty pools exist. Dock Kelp is 40 gold and skips the minigame. Eastern Pond Four-eyed Fish is 55. Dock Cod in rain is 170. Lotus marsh is Pike (6:00–19:00). Catfish wants 19:00–2:00. Wetland hideout is the hat. Old City sewers are hermit crabs. A Rivervalley puddle is Aquatic Chameleon Bug water. Some Wetland species want story machines before they bite. Music disks on the hook are loot, not codes 12311 / 24141 / 35321. How to complete will not count fishing as a boss bar.

Why no Salmon?
Bamboo rod, Light Rain days 25–27, and the right freshwater or festival pool. Missing the window costs a year, not a fancier rod.
Does a better rod unlock more fish?
Bamboo is the species cap. Higher rods change fight speed, not biomes.
Is Kelp the best early money?
Per minute, yes — no minigame. Per slot, Cod and Four-eyed Fish win. Mix them.
Empty weather cell?
Any weather. Empty month = any month. That is why the planner exists.
Are telephone codes fishing loot?
No. 12311, 24141, and 35321 are booth digits. Some CDs are hook loot with month and weather filters.
Does Wetland ignore seasons?
Some pools keep their own water. The planner still wants the right pool. Wetland map has that warning.
